Budgets Force Choices.

Something went wrong with the universe after the Puerto Rican GOP Primary. Mitt Romney not only made an accidental relevant statement, he made an intelligent and acutely cutting statement. He pointed out that nobody with a time horizon much beyond November 2012 could cast an intelligent vote for the Democrats. His actual quote was “I don’t see how anyone who is a young person could vote for a Democrat, I’m going to be honest with you.”

I’m no fan of Mitt Romney, but when he said that, he explained what we need to be shouting from the rooftops about the American Left. They have no values, they have no vision, and they offer no future. Well, they do offer a future; it’s just not a particularly bright or promising one. The chart below gives you the details. Maintaining Barack Obama’s current budgetary practices will spend our great nation into its grave and they know it.

Why do I believe they will spend us into perdition? Well as Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum have told us recently; past performance is a powerful indicator of future results. CBS News explains how things have gone under the first 3 and 1/3 years of Barack Obama’s Presidency.

The National Debt has now increased more during President Obama’s three years and two months in office than it did during 8 years of the George W. Bush presidency. The Debt rose $4.899 trillion during the two terms of the Bush presidency. It has now gone up $4.939 trillion since President Obama took office.

It would be grossly unfair to blame just Barack Obama for this deficit. It would be meaner than going on Fox News calling the poor man a Moslem! Barack Obama had plenty of help with the deficit. Despite the unequivocal language of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974, the Congressional leadership of the Democratic Party had the following things to say about the impending 2012 budget process.

“We do not need to bring a budget to the floor this year,” Reid told reporters last month, arguing that legislation setting limits on spending is sufficient. “The fact is, you don’t need a budget,” agreed fellow Democrat and House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer a few weeks ago. “We can adopt appropriations bills. We can adopt authorization policies without a budget. We already have an agreed-upon cap on spending.”

The more accurate statement of fact would be that Barack Obama, Steny Hoyer and Harry Reid do not want there to be a budget. A budget restricts your choices to something less than “all of the above”, “more than I can possibly afford” or “whatever the [barnyard epithet] gets me elected next time.” It’s always saying the magical word “No” that requires a set of nuts and a set of values.

This explains why no budget has made it to Barack Obama’s desk for 1,056 days. It explains why the US Senate has not passed one since 2009. It explains why House Minority Whip Hoyer does not want one to go up for a vote this year either.

Yet like Sisyphus, Republican Paul Ryan will try to bring Congress back into compliance with its own Federal Law. He will yet again attempt to pass his budget and cut $5.3 Tr from future domestic spending. The Democrats will predictably rerun their infamous advertisement showing him pushing Grandma Wheelchair off of a cliff. But Ryan has looked into the Abyss that is Southern Europe, and he’s seen Illinois, Rhode Island, California…(and quite possibly the other 54 states as well).

For his efforts to at least mitigate the problems of our profligacy Ryan will be castigated, stone-walled and ultimately defeated in 2012. This is when whomever we nominate needs to do more of what Mitt Romney did in his Chicago speech. When the Democrats hide from the future they arrogantly and self-righteously bluster that they represent, the Republicans need to call them on it. Those deficit charts need to be stapled to every Democratic Congressional Candidate’s forehead. This is the only way we can force our Congress to actual pass a budget. This budget is the only way to make our government actually make a choice.

Moderates are Killing America!


If you don’t understand that then you need to open your eyes! America is dying a slow death and we are all too afraid to say it and do anything about it.

The country is in the mess it is today because of the ill conceived notion that being a ‘moderate’ or someone who ‘compromises’ is what we should strive for. You hear it every day on television about how gridlock in Washington is such a terrible thing and how politicians can’t get “The Peoples” work done like they want to because the right wing won’t compromise.

In the eyes of a liberal, progressive, socialist, Marxist or Democrat (they are all the same) compromise ONLY means caving in to their demands. To them being a ‘moderate’ means going along with what they want. And for years conservatives have played right along except for a brief period of time when Ronald Reagan was President.

But even Reagan did more compromising than he should have. He was also fooled by the Democrats into thinking that they would deal honestly and fairly with him promising him things in return for his support of some issues on their agenda. Reagan commented in his later years that he felt betrayed and never saw the things he was promised by the Democrats. We should have learned from that a long time ago.

Years, and years of ‘compromise’ and being ‘moderate’ have left this country in a financial disaster it may not be able to recover from. Government spending is out of control and growing at an ever increasing rate. We have a national debt of well over 15 Trillion dollars, 40% of every dollar we spend is borrowed and half of all Americans are not paying any income taxes. This is a recipe for economic collapse.

How much longer will an increasingly smaller and smaller portion of society continue to pay for everything and everyone else? How much longer can entitlements keep growing before there is just no more money to pay for them? Does anyone really think the Fed can keep printing more and more money and nothing catastrophic will take place?

Last week we saw a dog and pony show on Capitol Hill, presented by the Democrats where a young woman proclaimed that it was just not right that she had to pay for her own contraception. She is a student at a prestigious law school and let the world know that it was just ‘too much’ to expect her to pay for her own contraception while at law school. Really? Wow! She is even on a scholarship at the school. So she (and every Democrat in the country) expect the taxpayers or insurance companies to pay for her birth control. Remember, insurance companies will not ‘pay’ for it. They will just raise the premiums of their customers to pay for it. And the ‘government’ will not pay for it. They will raise taxes or just print more money out of thin air to pay for it. So as crazy it seems the bottom line is all us taxpayers and workers will pay for her contraception needs whether we want to or not.

Yet, “The People” want more and more of this insanity it seems. The media and Democrats make you feel like you are some kind of evil person if you dare to say you are against another new entitlement. Most people want to feel good about themselves and don’t want to have someone say or even think they are a ‘bad’ person so they go along with it.

They stay silent or even vote for the people (Democrats) that will enact more such laws because it makes them feel good about themselves. “I am a good person! I support more entitlements! I vote for Democrats because they are more moderate and that is a good thing.” Then these voters can sleep peacefully at night knowing they ‘helped’ someone in need when in reality they are hurting the country as a whole in a dramatic way.

The truth is this is all a bunch of Bull! The bleeding hearts and people that want to (or need to) feel good about themselves and vote for Democrats or RINO’s are the cause of the very problems we face today that will doom the country. When you hear the media or a Democrat saying, “It is good to be a moderate. We need compromise” it is a trap! What they are really saying is you voters need to let us turn America into a socialist country by putting us in office. They pitch the phony narrative that they want to help the poor, help the children, protect women’s rights and save the Earth when their true intent is something very different.

Democrats are hypocrites! I realized this when I was only about 12 years old. They say things to try and tug at your heart strings and make you feel like you are a bad person if you don’t support their agenda. Their agenda is ruining this country as we know it and must be stopped.

Andrew Breitbart said it best when he proclaimed, “This is war! We conservatives are not taking it anymore!” Yes, we have ‘taken it’ for years and years and it has to change. The liberals have been ‘at war’ with us for some time. When will we realize that? We have literally lost control of our own government while we had our backs turned, working hard making the country great. While we were minding our own business people like Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have been hard at work within the government making their socialist agenda a reality. The very fabric of America is being changed right before our eyes. If you don’t think this is ‘war’ you are naïve and foolish.

These are scary times! We have an electorate that produced a President that flat out told us he did not like America and was determined to “fundamentally change it.” He told us what he was going to do and he is doing it! Being a good person DOES NOT mean being a ‘moderate’ or being willing to ‘compromise’. The time for compromise and moderation is over. Being in the ‘middle’ is the totally wrong way to think unless you want America to be a socialist country.

In truth, being a good citizen means standing up for what is right and what needs to be done and NOT backing down. We must take our medicine or we will never get better. The Democrats are like a bad parent. They give their kids candy because the kids want it even though they know it will make them sick and rot their teeth. In fact, they even get them addicted to the candy by design. They buy their kids lavish Christmas presents and pay for them with a credit card that they have no intention of ever paying off themselves. They don’t tell their kids this but the ‘kids’ will be the ones having to pay for that credit card bill sometime in the future.

The Democrats take every opportunity to kill energy production because in truth they want gasoline to be $10 a gallon so people won’t drive. They tell you they are trying to save the environment instead of telling the truth that they really don’t want a population of citizens that are ‘empowered’ to be free people and pursue happiness. The Democrats think they are the ‘ruling class’, that they know best and that we are pheasants. The pheasants can’t be controlled if they are free to do what they please economically and politically. $10 a gallon gasoline is part of their plan to keep people dependant on the government which of course is them.

The Communist Party was not the workers party. They just said that to keep the masses in check so they could tax them and control them with a strong central government. Anyone that tells you that is not the exact same thing the Democrats want these days is a liar. The Democratic Party has totally been taken over by socialists, progressives and Marxists. The Communists were the ruling class. That is the Democrats goal these days.

We better wake up and take action now before it is too late. The Constitution is our guiding principle and we must ‘demand’ a return to a government that obeys the Constitution. We are like a speeding car heading towards a cliff and the Democrats are saying ‘go faster!’ Now ‘why’ would they want that? The Republicans are saying, “Well, maybe we should consider slowing down a little bit or changing course somewhat. We need to talk about that.”

Both parties are taking us down a path to ruin, one just quicker than the other. Nancy Pelosi even said that there ‘should be no difference’ no matter which party wins the majority in the government. What she means is that, in her mind, it does not matter if Republicans or Democrats win. The end result will be the same. A strong central government that controls the masses…meaning controlling us.

The government needs to leave people alone, get off the back of businesses, and stop spending money they don’t have. We must DEMAND that from our elected officials or vote them out. As Rick Perry said, “The Federal Government needs to be as inconsequential in the everyday lives of Americans as possible.” The time is now and we must act to take back our government and restore America to what it once was. No more compromise.

New Debt Limit Brings New Opportunity for Cut, Cap, Balance


When Republicans agreed to raise the debt ceiling last year, not only did they credit Obama’s credit card by $2.1 trillion, they also gave him a lifeline until after the election.  At the time, it was projected that $2.1 trillion in new debt allowance was sufficient to last until January 2013, sparing Obama the embarrassment of raising the debt ceiling right before the election.  Well, it appears that we’ve blown through the new debt so quickly that we might bump up against the $16.394 trillion debt ceiling before November 2012.

Last week, Senator Rob Portman released an analysis showing that we will reach the debt ceiling before the end of the fiscal year:

According to Table 6-2 in the President’s Budget’s “Analytical Perspectives” volume, the President estimates the total debt subject to the statutory limit – growing by $132 billion per month – will reach $16.334 trillion at the end of FY 2012 (September 30, 2012). This is just $60 billion below the current debt limit.  Thus, without a change in the debt trajectory, the debt ceiling will be eclipsed by October 15, 2012 unless the Department of Treasury again uses emergency protocols to shift that date past Election Day 2012.

Keep in mind that with passage of the extenders package, we will incur an additional $100 billion in debt by the end of the fiscal year.  At this pace, we will blow through the new debt limit by a rate of almost $5 billion per day.  Geithner is claiming that the deadline will be after the election, but it is still likely to come before Obama leaves office.  Moreover, these projections are predicated on higher levels of revenue, not lower levels of spending.  If economic growth stalls again, particularly due to higher oil prices, the revenues will tail off, bringing us closer to the debt limit at an even earlier date.

It is becoming quite evident that the two months leading up to the election will look at lot like July of last year, when DC was enmeshed in the heated battle over the debt ceiling.  It will also be a propitious time for Republicans to grow a spine.

We rarely get a second chance to do the right thing, but it looks like we will get another opportunity to stand strong and force transformational change in exchange for raising the debt ceiling.  This time the stakes will be sky-high.  All the Republicans who pledged to cut spending and fight against more debt, but failed miserably last year, will have one more opportunity to stand behind Cut, Cap, and Balance (CCB).

Last August, only 66 House Republicans, or 27% of the Republican Conference, voted against the debt ceiling deal.  The rest voted to kill CCB.  Just 19 Republican senators voted against this travesty.  Ever since last August, many of the yea votes have been inveighing against the debt deal and complaining that they were dealt a bad hand.  As primary challenges to these members begin to mount, they are stepping up their outrage over the debt.   Well, it’s never too early to start repenting.  In the likelihood that we will reach the debt ceiling before Obama’s term expires, how many of them are willing to commit to CCB or bust?

Barack Obama Wants Smaller Government. What’s Next?


Well I thought I had seen just about everything in my sixty years, but apparently I still have a lot more to learn about politics and human nature!  My latest discovery came last week when I read a newspaper headline that proclaimed, “Barack Obama Wants Smaller Government.”  Well I’ll be darned, I thought!  What do you make of that?  After spending us into the poor house for the past three years, our young, profligate spending President Obama, now supposedly wants to “reduce” the size of government.   Only one year before he has to run for re-election, and the spendthrift Obama has finally seen the light!  I wonder what other conservative causes he will begin to “embrace” next, as we get closer to the election! 

After doubling the National Debt from  8 trillion dollars to 16 trillion dollars in just the first three years of his administration, he has finally decided to rein in government spending, and reduce the size of government, or at least to cut back a little on the growth of government.  At least that was the conclusion reached by the Associated Press, with the headline to their story gladly furnished by my local liberal newspaper.  “Barack Obama wants smaller government” the headline read!  What a blatantly dishonest attempt to get votes!  It reminds me of Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act a couple of months ago.  The only job that Barack Obama’s American Jobs Act was concerned about, was Barack Obama’s own job in November!  If the President had any concern at all about American jobs (other than his own) then he wouldn’t have waited until his third year in office, when he is running for re-election, to do anything at all about it? Why didn’t he make jobs a priority in his first year in office, or his second year in office?  Isn’t it obvious what he is really concerned about?

By the way, only one week after reading that headline in the newspaper, the President signed into law another alarming extension of the National Debt Ceiling, to 16.2 trillion dollars!  It just seems like it’s business as usual in Washington!  Our double minded President who is of mixed opinion as well as mixed origin, seems to be backtracking already on his one week old resolution to reduce the size of government.  Our overloaded Ship of State is sinking, and it is tilted on its side in much the same way as the Italian cruise ship that went down off the coast of Italy this week, but in our case the crew that is in charge is still dining sumptuously in the state lounge on pheasant and truffles at the taxpayer’s expense, while the ship continues to sink!

The young Obama administration is like a young child in a candy store with a brand new ten dollar bill in his pocket.  The excited little youngster decides to buy up all the candy that his ten dollar bill will afford him.  Then he promptly devours all of the candy, right down to the very last delectable bite!  And then he winds up with a great big stomach ache!  That’s our young President Obama, although I think that we are the ones who are actually suffering the stomach ache!  But at least in the candy store analogy, the ten dollar bill probably wasn’t borrowed, and it didn’t have to be paid back with interest!  And furthermore, when the ten dollar bill was all spent, there was no more candy to be had, no matter how hard the young child protested!

But not so with our young President.  He just keeps spending even after he runs out of our money!  And now after three years of this “reign of financial insanity” in Washington, he supposedly wants to cut back on spending, and rein in the growth of government, a growth by the way which he fueled with the bailouts of Wall Street, the takeover of the auto industry, subsidies to the secondary home mortgage market through Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and his crown jewel:  ObamaCare!  Now, after all of the excesses of the first three years of the Obama administration, he supposedly wants to return to smaller government, and restore some kind of financial discipline to Washington D.C.  I’m sorry, I just don’t believe it!  This is all just electioneering propaganda!  How stupid do these liberal newspapers and this progressive administration think that the American people really are?  That’s quite an about face for Obama, don’t you think, if it was true?  But it isn’t true!  That would be like Karl Marx accepting Jesus, and becoming a born again Christian!  It just ain’t gonna happen!

So what’s the real story behind the headline, “Obama Wants Smaller Government”?   Let’s just say that you don’t have to dig very deep before you hit pay dirt.  Just some preliminary scratching around on the surface will do for this investigation!   If Barack Obama wants a smaller government then I am the King of Saudi Arabia!  So stand back Pinocchio, because I don’t want to get poked in the eye by your rapidly growing nose, whenever the news of your latest journalistic achievement finally reaches the “truth- or- lie detector’s desk!”  This is where the length of reporter’s noses is determined for the rest of all journalistic time!   And when your latest dilly of a story finally reaches his desk, and he realizes what a whopping big lie you have told, then your nice little nose is in store for a nice little lift!  Your new nose will be the subject of endless speculation.  It might even qualify for a special place in the Guinness Book of Records.  God only knows what you will do for your next story, but I can probably imagine.  It might go something like this, “Obama Admits Signature Health Care Legislation Was a Big Mistake!”

But we will probably not see that “mea culpa” until Obama has tried just about everything else, and everything else has failed.  Only when he realizes that he doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in Hell of being re-elected, only at that point will the “silver tongued celeb” say or do just about anything to stay in power.  Hopefully by then it will be too late. Nothing short of creating a war in the Middle East, God forbid, will be able to save his hide, or shake the connection that has been firmly planted in the public’s mind, of a smooth talking salesman who promised them the moon, but only delivered a mountain of public debt instead, to burden our children and our grandchildren, and subject future generations to a much bleaker future, as they struggle to figure out how to pay for it all.  And he did it all just in order to try to enhance his own personal legacy!
